Monthly Favourites | February 2015

Ever since Christmas I've been trying to watch my spending because I have a couple of things I'm trying to save up for, but in February I treated myself to a few new products, and some of them are fabulous. Here are the beauty products and lifestyle bits I was loving last month.

Makeup Revolution Amazing Lipstick in Atomic Ruby

This was my first experience with Makeup Revolution products, and I have to say that I was hugely impressed. Costing just £1, this lipstick is creamy, hydrating, relatively long lasting for the type of formula and highly pigmented. The packaging is pretty shoddy (the lid doesn't stay on), but the lipstick itself is great. I wrote a whole review on it here if you're interested.

Makeup Revolution Redemption Palette Iconic 3

As with virtually every other beauty obsessed person on the planet, I've been jealously eyeing up the Urban Decay Naked palettes ever since they came out, but because of the animal ingredients was unable to buy them myself. Step in Makeup Revolution with their 'accidentally vegan' products and penchant for creating exact dupes for popular products at a fraction of the cost, and I was able to get my hands on the Naked 3 dupe for just £4! The shades are all spot on (from the many swatches I've seen online) and the formula is exceptional for such a budget brand, in fact I prefer these shadows over my much more expensive palettes. They blend like a dream, are richly pigmented and with primer last on my eyelids all day without creasing. Being fair-skinned and cool-toned, the rosy neutral shades are perfect for me and I'd highly recommend picking up this palette if, like me, you really fancy the Naked 3 palette but are concerned about our furry friends.

Too Faced Matte Eye Shadow Collection

It might seem odd to have two eye shadow palettes in my favourites, but I really couldn't leave either of them out. The Matte Eye Shadow Collection is something else I've had my eye on for ages, but couldn't justify spending the best part of £30 on just 9 shadows. I was trawling eBay after Christmas hoping that I'd find someone selling it as an unwanted gift and did just that. I managed to pick it up, brand new, for a little over £12 and am thrilled with it. It's the perfect palette for every day and has every shade I could need for a day or evening look, which would make it perfect for travelling. I used to say that the hardest beauty product to find was a high quality eye shadow palette, but I'm happy to say that that's no longer the case.

Models Own Diamond Luxe in Oval Plum

I featured this polish in a Manicure Monday post a few weeks ago, and it's easily my favourite polish of the year so far. A hybrid of fuchsia and plum, with unique sparkle from the real diamond dust it contains, it's pretty unique and looks so beautiful on the nails. I'll certainly be picking up a few more shades from this collection in the future.

Oz Naturals 5% Hyaluronic Acid Serum*

If you read my review of this serum a couple of weeks ago you won't be surprised to see it make an appearance in my favourites. Ever since I started using this serum my skin has looked and felt better than it has in years; my fine lines have diminished, I have no dry areas at all (which is very unusual for this time of year), the texture of my skin looks smoother and healthier and my less noticeable blemish marks have totally vanished. I really can't rave about this product enough, as soon as it came back in stock I ordered another bottle.

Yankee Candle Happy Birthday

I only reviewed this candle a couple of days ago, so won't bore you with too much detail again. The scent is glorious; think vanilla cake batter with sugary butter cream and a hint of citrus, it's simply divine. It's stronger than any other Yankee Candle I've tried too, which was a nice surprise, and the smell lasts over night. I'll be really upset when this runs out.

Harry Potter Time-Turner Necklace*

I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, so when I was offered the chance to review a Time-Turner necklace I jumped at the chance. The quality is superb for such an affordable piece of costume jewellery, the gold plating doesn't look yellow or brassy and the mini hour glass actually works. If you're a Harry Potter fan I'd definitely recommend picking this up. I wrote a full review here if you'd like to read more and see close up photos of it.

Jose Gonzalez - Vestiges & Claws

Jose Gonzalez is my favourite male singer, his other albums have been at the top of my playlists ever since I first heard his beautifully soft voice in 2003. Vestiges & Claws is his newest studio album and has been on near constant repeat since it was released on February 17th, I'm nowhere near fed up of it yet and don't think I ever will be. If I've played his other albums constantly for the best part of 12 years, and still love them as much if not more than I did initially, I have a feeling in 12 years I'm going to feel the same about this one.

Spotify Premium

I've been listening to Spotify on and off for a couple of years now, but never really paid it much attention because adverts annoy the heck out of me (that's also why I don't watch much TV), but at the beginning of February I saw a special offer on for Spotify Premium. For just 99p I was able to subscribe to the best service they offer for three whole months, it's usually £9.99 a month, so I jumped at the chance of having a shed load of music for such a bargain price. I haven't even opened iTunes since I got it, so will be really upset when my trial runs out, but I can't justify spending that much money on a music service when I have so much already. I've found lots of new bands that I'd never have heard of without this offer, so am really grateful for that. I think, though am not 100% sure, that the offer has ended now, but you can get a free one month trial by clicking the link below.

I know there aren't too many beauty products in this month's favourites, but I've been trying out a few new things, so next month will probably be quite make-up heavy. I do like to thoroughly test products before I recommend them to you.

What stole your heart in February? I'd love to hear your recommendations in the comments below.
