New Look Animal Testing Policy

Whilst browsing the New Look website recently, I stumbled across a whole host of make-up products that I hadn't seen before. I was totally clueless about New Look selling cosmetics, so decided to send them an email to ask about their animal testing policy, here is what they had to say.

Hermione Granger Time-Turner Necklace | Review

If you know me personally, or if you've been a reader for a while, you'll already know of my obsession with all things Harry Potter. I have all of the books, the films (multiple copies of each one) and a few replica props from the films. The latest thing I am happy to add to my collection is the Time-Turner* worn by Hermione in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

My Morning Skin Care Routine

I've worked really hard over the last year or so on developing a skin care routine that works well for me, it's been a lot of trial and error but I'm finally happy with everything I use on a daily basis. My main focus for my morning skin care is to provide my skin with as much moisture as it needs throughout the day, as well as creating a good base for my make-up to sit on. As with the majority of my beauty products, everything here is totally affordable, you won't find anything over £13, so if you have the same issues as me (combination/dry skin that's prone to eczema, spots and overly sensitive) this might be quite helpful for you.

Manicure Monday | Models Own - Utopia

As much as I adore dark and vampy nail polish (as you may have gathered by now), I do like a change now and then. I've worn so many deep shades over the last couple of months that I felt like switching it up a bit, so searched through my 'not on the blog yet' stash and came across Utopia from Models Own.

Weekly Round-Up #29

Candle of the week:  Fresh Apple

My brother's girlfriend, Claire, bought me this candle as part of my Christmas present but I haven't used it until this week. Although I really like fresh scents, the crispness of the apple seemed a little out of place in the middle of winter. This week however, the days have been getting longer and the temperature has started to rise, so I thought it was the prefect time to have a change from my spicy winter scents. It's absolutely gorgeous, and I can even smell it when it's not lit. When lit though the scent fills the room and the hall with an almost wet apple smell, as if it's been raining on a bucket of freshly picked apples, it really is a lovely smell. Unfortunately I don't know what the brand is or where it's from, but I might have to ask so I can buy another one.

The Vegan Kind Beauty Box #2 | First Impressions

Ever since my first The Vegan Kind Beauty Box arrived on my doorstep back in November, I've been counting down the weeks until my next one was due. Unlike most subscription boxes, The Vegan Kind sends its beauty boxes out every three months, so you have plenty of time to look forward to your next one. I much prefer to get a box quarterly rather than every month; for one it doesn't cost as much, and you also have enough time to use each product from the previous box to form a real opinion on it. After being so impressed with my first ever box from TVK, I have to say I was a little disappointed with this one.

Makeup Revolution Amazing Lipstick in Atomic Ruby | Review

Makeup Revolution is a brand that I've read a lot about over the last 10 months since their launch, but is one that I haven't yet ventured into myself. This is mainly because I was unsure about their animal testing policy and suitability of vegan products, not any more. I am happy to say that they are indeed cruelty-free, and even better, the vast majority of their products are vegan! A quick visit to their ingredients page will confirm what products are suitable. So with this knowledge in hand I went to the Superdrug website and made a small order, and of course, being a lipstick junkie, I had to try one of their Amazing Lipsticks.

Makeup Revolution Animal Testing Policy

Makeup Revolution is a brand that I've been curious about for a while, so I sent them an email to find out if they were cruelty-free and if they had any products suitable for vegans. Here is the reply they sent me:

Manicure Monday | Models Own - Diamond Luxe in Oval Plum

Models Own recently had a 50% off sale site wide, so naturally I had to take advantage of it and bought a few polishes for spring/summer. I also picked up a couple of polishes for the winter/spring transition, one of my favourites that arrived on my doorstep is Oval Plum from their Diamond Luxe collection.

Weekly Round-Up #28

Bought:  Collection Lasting Perfection

I've already spoken about my love for the concealer from this range, so whilst browsing the shops recently I decided to give the foundation and powder a go too. I haven't had a chance to try them out yet (well, I haven't had a chance to photograph them and don't want to use them until I do), but I'll be sure to let you know how I get on with them.

Oz Naturals 5% Hyaluronic Acid Serum | Review

Ever since Christmas my skin has been an absolute wreck, I don't know if it's the excessive amount of make-up I was wearing over the festive period, all of the junk food I ate, the freezing temperatures or a combination of them all. At the start of January I went on the hunt for a product to solve my dry, tight skin issues and while I was looking I was asked if I wanted to try the Hyaluronic Acid Serum* from Oz Naturals.

Manicure Monday | Barry M - Bright Red

With Valentines Day being only a few days away, I thought I'd do a very simple look that is perfect for the day. I don't have a Valentine this year, so will be spending the evening pampering myself, watching films and looking at my very cute nails.

Manicure Monday | Barry M - Treasure Chest

As you probably know by now, my favourite finish of nail polish is creme. I love a nice plain glossy finish, but every now and then I fancy something a little bit different, something that will add an extra something to basic manicure. The latest addition to my glitter collection is Treasure Chest from Barry M, and I just love it!

Weekly Round-Up #26

Beauty product of the week:  Sparkling Lemon Verbena hand and nail cream

For months I was using the strawberry version of this hand cream from Marks and Spencer, but my local store stopped selling it and they never had it in stock on the website, so I turned to Soap and Glory. While I do really love all of the hand creams I've tried from Soap and Glory (full comparison post here), it's nice to switch it up every now and then, especially as these are only £1 a tube and can often be found on special offer. I don't find the lemon scent very strong on this but it's still very pleasant and it sinks in extremely fast, as long as you don't use too much. For just £1 it's a really good alternative to S&G.
