I never used to bother much with body exfoliators, a good scrub with a shower puff was enough to make me feel like I was polished enough, but since trying out a few different kinds over the past year or so I've been wanting to try more and more. The latest one in my collection is You Snap The Whip from Lush.
You Snap The Whip is a solid body butter with tiny scrubby particles of powdered charcoal and pumice, which are perfectly distributed throughout the bar and there is the perfect amount to get both a good scrub and an in-shower moisture treat for your skin.
The first thing that struck me about this body butter is the scent, it's just heavenly. Think black jelly babies, fruit pastilles or blackcurrant jam, it's one of the best smelling products I've ever used. Apparently it shares its scent with The Comforter bubble bar, but I'm yet to try that so can't compare I'm afraid.
The body butter component of the bar is made from cocoa butter and macadamia nut oil, so you know it's going to feel luxurious and do your skin the world of good. My skin can be pretty sensitive to scrubs, but because the pumice and powdered charcoal are in such a heavy moisturising product, I could happily use this every few days and not have any adverse reactions. After exiting the shower I was surprised to see a bit of a mess left behind, I had black marks all over the cubicle, but as I rinsed it all down before they dried they weren't a problem.
My only gripe about You Snap The Whip is how much you use per use; I was shocked to see that by time I'd used this all over my body once, I had less than two thirds of the bar remaining, which makes it a very expensive product to use given its £6.50 price tag. It does scent the skin wonderfully though and I could still smell it well into the following day after showering the previous evening.
I really do love this product; it made my skin feel incredibly smooth and soft and smells beautiful, and I didn't need to use body lotion after using it, but I don't know how often I'm going to want to spend so much money for three or four very careful uses. I think this is something that I'd happily buy again, but keep for special occasions or times when I really feel that a pamper is needed.
You Snap The Whip is available from Lush stores nation wide and online for £6.50.
