As I'm sure you already know, I really rate the lip products from Autograph very highly, I'm yet to find a lip product of their's that I don't love. So, when I was kindly offered a 'friends and family' discount code a few weeks back, that could also be used in conjunction with their 'buy one get one half price' deal, I couldn't resist.
There are 8 shades in the range, and the one I have here is Damson, which is a very pretty, slightly muted, cool-toned berry colour. It has lots of shine, which you'd expect given the product's name, but doesn't contain any glitter at all. There's no discernible scent to the lip crayon and no taste either, something I'm always happy about.
The jumbo crayon comes packaged in a box with all of the information you need printed on it, well almost all the info you need. My one and only bugbear with the beauty packaging from Marks and Spencer is that there is no indication if a product is suitable for vegans or not, something I have brought to their attention time and time again, meaning that you either have to shop online or go through the website to see what's suitable and then take the list in-store. I really hope they rectify that as I know a lot of beauty loving vegans who don't feel confident enough to check ingredients themselves and refuse to shop there. Once you open the box you're presented with a thick glossy black tube with a silver bottom and black lid. Pull the lid off and you can then twist up the silver section to reveal more of the product. Although the lid doesn't snap shut like their lipsticks, it does feel very secure once on, and I wouldn't think twice about throwing it in my bag.
The crayon applies very smoothly and feels lovely one the lips, it's very glossy and has just the right amount of slip. It's not too greasy or too dry, they've got the texture just right so it feels just as lovely after a couple of hours as it did when I first applied it. Although the shade I have looks very deep, it's not completely opaque so is very wearable in the daytime, and I don't need a brush or a lip liner, and don't even need a mirror to touch it up, making it great for busy days. It's pretty fool-proof, just the right width to easily cover my lips without being so big that it makes application messy.
I haven't had any problems with bleeding or feathering and it lasts better than most glossy crayons, but if I drink I need to touch it up and if I eat I need to reapply completely. As you'd expect with a glossy lipstick, it does transfer but no more than any other lipstick or gloss, and at least it's a pretty colour you're leaving behind. It does leave a slight stain behind once it's taken off, but it's nothing that a good make-up remover won't solve.
Over all I'm really happy with the Autograph Ultimate Shine Twist Up Lip Colour; it feels gorgeous on the lips, application is a doddle, the packaging is great quality and it looks beautiful. I love it so much in fact that I already have 2 shades, as you may have seen in my November Favourites, and I plan on getting more after Christmas.
Autograph Ultimate Shine Twist Up Lip Colour's are available in 8 shades from Marks and Spencer online and in stores nationwide for £9.50.
