Monthly Favourites | November 2014

This month hasn't really been the best, I had lots of good things planned for it but only a few of them really came to anything, so I'm kind of glad to see the back of it to be honest. I've tried a few new products over the last few weeks that I haven't had the chance to write reviews of yet, so I won't go into too much detail here, but will be sure to post full reviews soon.

Autograph Smooth Matt Mousse Foundation in Ivory

I talked a about this in a Weekly Round-up post a few weeks back, and I've worn this pretty much every day since. It's unusual to find a foundation too pale for me, but this just might be. Worn with a little bronzer though it looks like a perfect match and wears really well. The best way I've found to apply this is with a dense round brush, and you only need a tiny amount, so the £9.50 price tag, I think, is well worth it. It really does stay matte for most of the day and I don't need to powder over it, so it's very quick to apply. The coverage is good and for a autumn/winter foundation I think this is an absolute winner.

Autograph Ultimate Shine Twist Up Lip Colour in Plum Shine

Shock horror, another Autograph lip product that I love. I bought this online thinking that the name 'Plum' would be a great colour for this time of year, but to me it's pretty far removed from actually looking plum. I'd say it's more of a pink/mauve with a hint of lilac, but is still very pretty regardless. The formula is great; not sticky, lasts pretty well and has a decent amount of shine. This is another product for which I have a review due in the next couple of weeks.

OCC Lip Tar in Black Metal Dahlia

This is my favourite lip product of all time, and I raved about it in my Top 10 Vegan Lip Picks for Autumn. It's the perfect shade for this time of year and contains glitter that is really pretty but doesn't feel chunky or gritty on the lips. The wear time is amazing, I only need to touch it up after meals. If you only apply a tiny bead of product, it doesn't bleed or feather and feels light on the lips. If you're a lover of bold lip colours, I would highly recommend this.

Organic Surge Million Dollar Anywhere Balm

I received this balm in my The Vegan Kind Beauty Box, and I've used every single day since I opened it. Hailed as a product that "nourishes and nurtures dry or irritated skin areas - anywhere, anytime", it's ideal for the cold weather we're having at the moment. It really does help dry or flaky skin and is the best thing I've ever used on my cuticles. Expect a glowing review of this very soon.

B. All Lengthening Defining Volumising Waterproof Mascara

It was only last month that I sung the praises of the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, but I've hardly used it over the last few weeks. With the weather being pretty chilly, I've found my eyes watering quite a bit, so bought this because it's waterproof, and it hasn't let me down. It holds the curl really well, doesn't flake or smudge and lengthens and separates my lashes. It may not make them look the best they possibly could, but for an every day mascara I think it's brilliant, even better than Barry M's Lash Vegas mascara, which has been my go-to waterproof mascara for ages.

Crazy Rumours Lip Balm

I'm sure you'll know by now that I have a slight lip balm addiction, so it won't come as a surprise to see another new one in my favourites. I bought 3 of these at the start of the month with loyalty points from Holland and Barrett, and now I'm kicking myself for not trying them sooner. They feel very smooth on the lips, they hydrate, protect, soften and come in more flavours that I've ever seen with another brand. I've been loving the Gingerbread one especially, the only problem is that the taste is so good that I have to try and stop myself from licking it all off! Out of all of the lip balms I've tried these are my favourite, not only because they smell and taste delicious, but also because they are made from 100% natural ingredients and last longer on the lips than any other brand I've tried.

P2 Crown & Gold Most Wanted Eyebrow Gel in Brilliant Brown

I've been on the hunt for a decent eyebrow gel for ages now, preferably with a tiny brush and with colour, so when I saw this on Kat's (of Vegan Beauty Studio) Instagram page I knew I had to get my hands on it. Unfortunately it's not available in the UK or USA, but Kat was kind enough to buy it for me and ship it over. It doesn't contain fibres so won't thicken your brows, but it adds emphasis and keeps them in place all day long, even in the rain. If you have a DM store anywhere close to you, I'd highly recommend picking this up, especially as it is crazy cheap at only £2.07. I really wish I'd asked for more of these now, because the whole Crown & Gold line is limited edition and I'd like a few back up's.

Evans Ankle Boots

As I've told you before, I have very large feet (UK size 10-11) so finding shoes and boots that aren't made of real leather is a bit of a challenge. Thankfully Evans do a pretty decent range of footwear that goes up to a size 10, and most of them fit me really well. I bought these ankle boots a couple of months ago now but have barely worn any other footwear all month long. They have a zip on the inside, making them easy to put on and take off and are super comfortable. They go with almost any outfit I've paired them with and still look brand new; they haven't yet developed that ugly crease across the toes that many faux leather boots tend to. I have a feeling I'm going to be wearing these until they fall apart. The black are currently sold out, but the brown are still available with 20% off.

Ben Howard - I Forget Where We Were (link)

I've bought 2 albums this month, but I've listened to this far more than anything else. I've had his first album, Every Kingdom, since it was released and I've added it to virtually every playlist I have because I love it so much, and I know that I'm going to to exactly the same with this one. If I have work to do on the computer I love to listen to this because it's kind of relaxing without being so relaxing that it makes me want to fall asleep. I love his voice and am so glad he's finally brought out his 2nd album.

Nurse Jackie

This is one of those shows that I missed the first few episodes of and never got around to catching up on until recently, thank heavens for Netflix. In the space of 2 weeks I watched all 6 seasons and now can't wait for season 7, which unfortunately is going to be the last. It's about a nurse who is addicted to prescription pain medication and all of the drama, both with work and family life, that comes with that. It's funny, emotional, tense and gritty all at the same time, I've just loved it and will be sad to see it end.
