My Top 10 Vegan Lip Picks For Autumn

Following on from my Top 10 Vegan Nail Polish Picks For Autumn, I thought today I would share my lip picks with you. I've always been a lover of a bold lip, as you can see in my profile pic, and once autumn is even slightly hinted at I'm grabbing for my berry shades. This year is no different, but I have got a few new ones to play with too.

Lime Crime Velveteen in Red Velvet

This is the first matte liquid lipstick I bought, and I have to say that I think I was a bit spoiled, very few matte products live up to this now. The product comes in a lip gloss style tube with a doe foot applicator, it applies wet but within seconds it dries to a completely matte finish. It really does look like velvet on your lips! The wear time in amazing; you can drink without any fear of coming off, most foods won't make it budge and it's completely transfer proof. If you want a pin-up red lip but don't want to have to keep checking on it throughout the day, this is the lipstick for you.

Autograph Matt Velvet Lipstick in Raspberry

I only reviewed this two weeks ago, you can see the full review here. It's a new release from Marks and Spencer and has quickly become one of my favourite ever lipsticks. I love the formula, the shade and the packaging, in fact there's nothing I dislike about it. It's very, very close to perfection.

ELF Moisturising Lipstick in Red Carpet

I've made no secret of my love for the Moisturising Lipsticks from ELF, one of them made it onto my Top 5 Pink Lip Products list. Red Carpet is a perfect blue-toned red; very 1940's. If I'm after a satin finish red lip this is the lipstick I always reach for, in fact this is my second one, the first one I destroyed by bashing it around in my bag. The price is so low at £3.95 (and they frequently have 50% off sales) that I don't mind buying a back-up of my favourite shades. The only thing I dislike about this lipstick is the scent, it's sweet and artificial but I can't quite place it. I've read people describing it as vanilla, but it doesn't smell like that to me.

Wet 'N' Wild Mega Last Lipstick in Cherry Bomb

This is the darkest shade in my collection, it's so vampy and deep, I love it! I bought this last autumn and wore it almost every day, so am really looking forward to darker evenings so I can dig it out again. This is another matte finish lipstick, but it feels quite creamy on the lips and isn't drying at all. If you like to wear matte lips every day, I'd recommend this collection as they're creamy enough that your lips won't be affected but still matte in appearance.

B. Brilliant Rich Colour Lip Gloss in Morello

I'll admit that there was only one reason why I bought this shade; it reminded me of Lime Crime's Carousel Gloss in Present. I've wanted that gloss since it came out but this was cheaper at £6.99 as opposed to the £12.50 of Lime Crime. Seeing it in person though I don't think it's a dupe, but is beautiful in its own right. It's a lovely deep plum-purple with great shine and amazing pigmentation for a gloss. I use this more as a liquid lipstick than a gloss, paired with a purple lip liner it looks stunning.

ELF Matte Lip Colour in Rich Red

Yep, another blue-based red. In my defence, they are all different finishes and slightly different shades. This one comes in the form of a wind up skinny crayon, but unlike most lip crayons, this one is completely matte. Unusually for ELF, there is no scent to this product, something I'm very pleased about. Even though it is a wind up crayon, if you remove the red section at the bottom, that is a sharpener so you can keep your application thin and precise. This feels slightly more drying than the Autograph and Wet N Wild lipsticks, so it's not something I would choose to wear every day. For nights out or occasional days though it's lovely.

Autograph Ultimate Wear Long Lasting Lip Lacquer in Oxblood

This one definitely takes the prize for the longest name, and the longest wearing. I first reviewed this product back in April, and my love for it has only grown since then. I bought the shade Oxblood knowing that I was probably going to love it for autumn, and I really do. I love Marks and Spencer for having such great vegan lip products, even if they do cost a couple of pounds more than I usually spend, they're more than worth it. The wear time on this lip lacquer is even greater than that of the Lime Crime Velveteen; a quick touch up after a meal and you're set for the rest of the day. If you're not a fan of a glossy lip you might not like this, you definitely need to apply the gloss that comes with the lacquer, if you don't your lips will feel tight and uncomfortable. With the gloss though, they feel great and even after it's worn away they still don't feel bad. I really can't recommend this product enough and know I'll be picking up a few more from the selection of 13 beautiful shades available.

Barry M Loud Mouth in Diva

This is another product that I reviewed very recently. I won this collection over on Superdrug's Instagram account, but even if I hadn't I'd have still bought at least one. I was curious to see how similar they were to the OCC Lip Tar's, and while they're not dupes, they're still comparable. The shade Diva is the darkest in the collection and is a lovely burgundy, quite similar to Oxblood above but has less of a brown undertone. I think most people would really like the scent of this, it smells very strongly of peaches, but I have a love/hate affair with that smell. This is one product that takes slightly more work as you need to apply with a lip brush for the best results, so touch ups on the go aren't overly practical. I don't mind pulling out a lip brush to re-apply, but I know some will be put off by that.

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Lips in Vega

In the same competition on Superdrug's Instagram account, I won the Gelly High Shine Lips collection, I know, I'm very lucky. The Gelly Lips are a chunky pencil product that doesn't twist up, meaning you need a sharpener, and a big one at that. Honestly, I hate that you need to buy an additional item to make these work, but they're worth it. I'd already bought this shade before I won the competition, so in the photo above you see my unused one as it looks much nicer than the one already worn down. The product glides onto your lips very smoothly and you don't need a lip liner as the pencil is quite thin, meaning that you can get a precise line. As the name would suggest, this is a very glossy product, something I really like in pencil or crayon form, and it wears away like your typical lipstick. I'd say it's a hybrid of a lipstick and a gloss, it really is a lovely product. The shade Vega is another vampy, deep berry colour. It's definitely day appropriate for the cooler months, but looks equally as good on a night out. I've been loving this over the top of a lip balm for a more sheered out wash of colour over the past month or so.

OCC Lip Tar in Black Metal Dahlia

I've saved the best for last, this is my all time favourite lip colour! Black Metal Dahlia is the most perfect blackened red with metallic sparkle I have ever seen, I just can't say enough how much you have to see this in person to appreciate it's beauty. I know I could never do it justice in a swatch, so here's an official picture from OCC, the one that made me fall in love with it, just look how stunning it is:

If, like me, you're a fan of a bold or dark lip, you need this in your collection. You really do need the smallest little dot to cover both lips, so one tube will last you a lifetime, even if you wore this every day for the rest of your life, I really don't think you'd ever finish it. All Lip Tar's come packaged in a clear plastic pouch with a lip brush, so you can throw it in your bag and touch up should you need to. They're very long wearing but feel so light on the lips. If I had to recommend just one product from this list, it would be this one.
