Sinivalia Aloe Vera Body Butter | Review & Giveaway

I have to admit, I've never really worried that much about chemicals in my beauty products, but with a recent flare up in a skin condition that's been in remission, I've been trying to use more natural products. I often apply hand and body creams several times a day, so that's what I thought I'd start with. The Aloe Vera Body Butter* from Sinivalia is as natural as you can get, there's just one ingredient, aloe vera butter.

The body butter comes packaged in a generous 140g metal tub with a screw off lid. I say "generous" because, although it may not be the largest tub you'll find, you need to use so little of the product that it should last you a lot longer than your typical body creams you'll find on the high street. I only have to swirl my fingers across the butter a couple of times and I'm able to pick up enough product for each arm or leg.

The butter has no distinct scent, but there is a subtle hint of something plant-like. I'm not too familiar with aloe vera products, but I imagine that anything made from pure aloe vera would have the same smell. It's not something that lingers after the product has been absorbed, so would be the perfect thing to use after a shower if you plan on wearing a body spray or perfume.

As you can see, the body butter is a transparent white colour, so there's no chance of it staining your sheets if you apply it before bed. I know that seems like a strange point to make, but I still have marks on mine from a different brand I used over a year ago. It feels quite oily to the touch, and remains on the skin for a few minutes after you've rubbed it in, but within five minutes all traces of product are gone and I was left with really hydrated skin that wasn't greasy or sticky. The best result I've had though is the amount it's helped my skin condition, it's far less red and angry and is even starting to heal a lot quicker than it usually does. I think that just goes to show that there are times when I need to lay off the heavily scented products and turn to something more natural and healthy for my skin.

Although labelled as a body butter, because of its natural and very simple ingredient, I'm able to effectively use this in a number of ways; My cuticles seem to love it, and I've been using it before taking my Mani Monday photos because it doesn't leave them looking shiny. A tiny amount applied to the ends of my damp hair makes it look less frizzy once I've blow dried it, and if I get any fly-away hairs it helps to smooth them into place without having to use hairspray or other products. I've tried using it as a face cream, and though it does help with dry patches, I don't feel it really benefits my face all over, so would just use it on the areas that need extra help. The use that I wasn't expecting to love, but do, is as a lip balm. I've been using it almost exclusively before I apply my make-up in the mornings because it sinks in and doesn't just sit on my lips, I find it really works well this way and will continue to use it like that for the foreseeable future.

Of course, containing only aloe vera butter, there will be numerous uses for this butter, most of which I haven't tried yet, it's certainly not going to do you any harm no matter how you choose to use it. I plan on buying another tub to keep in the bathroom to use as after-sun, I have very fair skin and burn easily, even when wearing SPF, and aloe vera is excellent for burns, whether that's inflicted by the sun or any other way.

I really do love this product and will happily buy more once I run out though that may not be for a while. It's so unusual to find a natural beauty product that I would recommend and can be used for multiple purposes, I'm very impressed with it.
