As it's starting to warm up now I thought it was time to dig out a really bright shade of nail polish. I'm not usually one for in your face, obnoxious nail polishes, but something about Coral Reef from Models Own makes me really happy. I mean, just look how bright it is!
Coral Reef is a very bold coral shade with strong hints of red that was impossible to capture on camera. This is the closest I could get, but in real life it's slightly brighter with more red. In direct sunlight it looks like straight up orange, but indoors it looks more red-orange. It's a shade I wouldn't usually look twice at, but something about it has me totally mesmerised and it's started a complete obsession with everything coral!
It's a creme formula that required three coats to get it completely opaque, so to speed up drying time I had to apply Seche Vite. I did try and leave it without top coat, but I'm just too impatient to sit there and let three coats of polish dry.
Because of the strong orange tones in the polish, it does make my hands look more tanned than they are, something that I know a lot of people will love, but it's something I always try to avoid. As much as I love that effect on other people, I think it makes me look dirty. That aside though there's nothing I dislike about Coral Reef; the formula is nice and smooth, it's a lovely bright colour that would be perfect for fingers or toes and I think I'll be digging this out again when the hot weather rolls around in a couple of months.
Models Own nail polish in Coral Reef is available online for £4.99.
