Manicure Monday | Barry M - Cancun

Although I haven't really featured many matte nail polishes on the blog yet, I do have a special place in my heart for them, especially when they're something a little bit different. Cancun from Barry M is one of those polishes. It's unusual to find something both matte and summer appropriate, in my experience. I usually think of matte polish looking better in autumn/winter shades, but Cancun looks beautiful without the shine I'm so used to.

Barry M Cancun

Cancun was released as part of Barry M's Summer Matte's 2014 collection, but it's only recently that I've picked any of them up, and I'm kicking myself for not doing so sooner, the formula is fantastic. as much as I love the formula of virtually every Nail Paint I've ever tried, this one applied so much easier, it's possibly the easiest polish I've ever worked with.

Cancun is a beautiful green-leaning teal that's just bright enough for summer without being too obnoxious and in your face. The dry time was really good, I only had to wait a few minutes in between coats, and there was no sign of bubbling or imperfections once it dried completely, something which is vital in something as matte and bright as this polish is. In this photo I'm wearing two coats of polish with no top coat, I think it'd be lovely with a glossy top coat, but for me it wouldn't be so special then, shades like this that dry glossy are ten-a-penny, but this is the first vegan matte polish in this colour family that I've come across.

I enjoyed working with this polish so much that I've just put in an order for a few more from the collection, hopefully they'll be just as great.

Barry M Matte Nail Paint in Cancun is available online and from Superdrug stores nationwide and online for £3.99.

Do you like to wear mattes in the summer too, or do you leave them for the colder months?
