Manicure Monday | Barry M - Black Pistachio

I don't know what it is lately, but I seem to be drawn to pretty much anything dark green. After years of hating the colour I now can't get enough of it, so Black Pistachio from Barry M's Midnight Gelly collection was obviously going to be mine at some point.

Barry M Black Pistachio

The Midnight Gelly collection contains four blackened shades that are ideal for winter, so before we hit spring in the next few weeks I thought I'd make the most of the remaining chilly days and wear Black Pistachio. As you can guess from the name and see from the above photo, Black Pistachio is an extremely dark green polish, so dark in fact that it very nearly looks black until the light hits it in the right way. It's a shade that I absolutely love.

A couple of weeks ago I reviewed another polish from this collection and said how dissatisfied I was with the formula, I'm pleased to say that this one didn't have the same issues. Although I'm not a huge fan of the Gelly range in general (I find them too thick for my liking), I found Black Pistachio to be fairly easy to work with. It applied smoothly and didn't cause any 'stringing' like I've experienced with some other Gelly polishes. I only had to use two coats for full opacity and didn't need to apply top coat for shine or to even things out. However, if you read my Mani Monday posts regularly, you'll know that I'm rather impatient so I did use Seche Vite to speed up drying time.

I'm pleased to say that this shade has given me faith back in the Midnight collection, so I fully intend on picking up the other two shades, which are a blackened blue and blackened purple.

Barry M Midnight Gelly in Black Pistachio is available online for £3.99.

Is this the kind of shade that you'd be drawn to?
