As I've told you several times already, I've been on the hunt for the perfect purple nail polish for years now, so when Models Own had one of their frequent 50% off sales I headed straight for the purples to see what I could pick up. Purple Orchid caught my eye immediately and I couldn't wait to get it on my nails.
Purple Orchid is the perfect name for this shade of polish; it's the ideal mix of cool-toned purple and pink that is so frequently seen on its namesake flower. Being from the Hyper Gel collection it does dry relatively glossy, but still nowhere near as glossy as I like so I have added top coat in this photo.
The formula was really nice to work with; it wasn't too thick or too thin and applied smoothly. I was surprised that I had to use three coats for full opacity, though, usually shades this deep only require two, but it's not a problem if you have a bit more time to spare.
As much as I really do adore this shade, it's still not quite my perfect purple so I'll continue my search and post my findings here as I go. If you think you know of a great purple nail polish please do let me know, I'm open to suggestions.
