Until recently I wasn't a fan of white or off-white nail polishes. I'd only use them as bases for glitter toppers or in some other way that partially covered them, but a few months back I started to really appreciate the simplicity of an all over white manicure. Lady from Barry M's Royal Textured Glitter Collection is one of my favourites.
Lady is a gorgeous off-white/pearl glitter polish with iridescent shimmer that dries to a matte finish. I really wanted to leave the polish matte to photograph, but I just couldn't bare it, it's way too gritty for my liking. To smooth it out I've applied a heavy coat of Seche Vite, and I much prefer it this way. If, like me, you don't like the 'liquid sand' effect polishes you'll definitely need a good self levelling top coat, a normal top coat just won't cut it.
With the addition of top coat I think this polish is beautiful, it reminds me of fresh snow in the sunlight, that's the kind of sparkle I get from it. The above photo shows three coats of Lady, after two it was still slightly streaky, but that's the case with most white polishes I've experienced. Because it's a matte glitter, it does dry fairly quickly, I finished this mani at almost 4am and was able to go to bed within half an hour without any sheet marks, and that was before I applied Seche Vite.
I really do love the effect of this polish without top coat, I just can't stand having scratchy nails. With it though the sparkle is more prominent and is more wearable, for me at least.
Barry M Textured Nail Paint in Lady is available online and from Superdrug online and in stores nation wide for £3.99.
What do you think, would you/do you wear such a pale shade on all of your nails?
