After wearing Meadow a few weeks ago, and loving it so much, I decided it was time I got some more use out of the rest of the Silk collection from Barry M. I've had the entire collection since it was released last year, but have barely worn it, I don't know why because I love most of the shades. Being a huge purple nail polish fan, I decided to go with Heather this week.
Heather is a gorgeous pale lilac polish with micro shimmer that, like the rest of the Silk collection, dries somewhere between a matte and a satin finish. The shimmer is barely noticeable in real life, I can only really see it when the sun hits it, and even then it's not very sparkly. I was keen to see what the polish would look like with a glossy top coat, so the photo below shows Heather topped with Seche Vite. As you can see, the glossy top coat really brings out the sparkle, and it looks just as pretty to the naked eye. However, I think I do prefer it without top coat, it's just more unique that way.
As I've come to expect from Barry M, the application of this polish was fantastic, even though I've had it for over a year, it was still smooth and easy to control. I think this is where the brand really shines; their polishes never seem to get gloopy. For these photos I used three thin coats of Heather, but I think I could have got away with two thicker ones. Wear time was really good too, I had some slight tip wear on day four, but didn't have any chips until I took it off on day five.
I'd happily pull this polish out again when I get fed up of brighter shades in the summer, as even though it's pastel and perhaps more suited to spring, I don't think it looks out of place in the warmer months either.
Barry M Silk Nail Paint in Heather is available online or from Superdrug stores nationwide and online for £3.99.
What do you think, do you prefer it with or without top coat?
