Superdrug B. Pure Micellar Water | Review

I am SUPER late to this party. Micellar water has been everywhere the last couple of years, but up until now I hadn't tried any of them. I was in a bit of a rut with my skin care regime and wanted to shake things up, so when I saw that Superdrug's own B. range was half price I thought it was perfect timing to try some new products out.

Micellar water is a cleanser, toner and refresher in one. Unlike other cleansers, this is designed to be used on a cotton wool pad. Simply apply to cotton wool and wipe over the face and neck to remove make up, dirt, sebum and impurities. It's gentle enough to use on eyes but strong enough to remove waterproof mascara.

What Superdrug has to say about it:
Quick and easy 3-in-1 cleanser that dissolves impurities in a single sweep, no water required. Ideal for all skin types even the most sensitive.

B. Pure with this 3-in-1 'super' water. Quick and effective yet extremely gentle.

  • Cleanses - Removes impurities and makeup.
  • Tones - Restores pH balance whilst keeping the skin supple.
  • Refreshes - with cucumber juice extract.
  • Ophthalmically approved.
  • Dermatologically approved.
  • I have very sensitive skin, the smallest change in the products I use can have me reaching for the concealer for months, but this did nothing to me. I had no spots, no dry patches, nothing but beautiful healthy looking skin that felt fresh and never tight or dry.

I have 2 small complaints about this micellar water; the taste, if you remove your lipstick with it do not lick your lips afterwards. Have you ever put your hands to your mouth after taking off nail polish? If so you will recognise this taste! The second is the way you dispense it. Once you unscrew the lid you are left with a dropper, which is ok if you always use it on a cotton pad, but if you make a boo-boo with your eye make up (and who doesn't?) you can't easily get a small amount on a cotton bud to clean it up. I will soon be emptying the whole bottle into a pump dispenser (like this one) so I can do this easier.

Personally I wouldn't use this water instead of my regular cleanser, I love that way too much to give it up yet, but I do like to remove my make up before I cleanse properly. I feel as if my other skin care products work better if I do that, and I like to go to bed feeling completely clean and fresh faced. For this purpose I find it works perfectly, with a bit of work it takes off my waterproof mascara and it cleans up mistakes like a dream.

Overall I am extremely happy with this product and can certainly see it being a staple on my dressing table for quite a while.

You can find B. Micellar Water in Superdrug stores nationwide or online here, the regular price is £4.99 but it is currently on sale for only £2.47!

Have you tried any micellar waters yet? What are your thoughts on them? Let me know in the comments.
