I've had my eye on the Speedy Quick Dry Nail Paints from Barry M since they first came out earlier this year. As you know, I love the brand, so I'm keen to try out any vegan-friendly products that they release. The initial few shades that were released in spring weren't really my cup of tea, but as they've now brought out an autumn/winter collection, I had a peek and fell in love with Sprint Finish immediately.
In the bottle, Sprint Finish looks like a very deep purple, but as you can see, on the nails it appears more burgundy than anything. Of course, that isn't a problem as it's my favourite colour, but it's not quite what I was expecting. Although I say it looks more burgundy, that doesn't mean that you can't still see some purple in there, hopefully from the photo you can tell that it's definitely visible, it's just not as prominent as I thought it was going to be.
I was eager to see what the formula of this collection was like as I do find some Barry M collections to be a bit hit and miss. I'm very sad to say that, for me, this is a miss. For the first coat I thought it was ok, not great but certainly workable. However, by the second coat I found it to be a bit of a pain to apply; It seemed to thicken up quite a lot in between coats, even though I put the lid back on, as I always do. Because of the viscosity it was leaving stringy bits as if it was melted cheese and with each stroke of the brush the cheese was being pulled. It left me with a fair bit of clean up and I had to use Seche Vite to even out the lumps.
The main draw to this line of Nail Paints is that it's supposed to be so quick drying that you could apply and go, but there's no way I was leaving my house with my nails in that state. With the addition of Seche Vite I really do love the finished look; The colour has my name written all over it and it looks super smooth and glossy, but I'm disappointed that something which could have been the answers to a busy gal/guys prayers has actually taken exactly the same amount of time to get a good result as any other nail polish, even with the quicker dry time.
I'm really curious to see if the problem is with this shade specifically or maybe even just my bottle, so I'll be buying another shade soon and putting it to the test. Of course, I'll be posting the results here so be sure to check back for that.
Barry M Speedy Quick Dry in Sprint Finish is available online and in Superdrug stores for £3.99.
Have you tried any polishes from this range? I'd love to know if you had similar problems to me.
